FREQUENTLY ASKED

QUESTIONS

What is the difference between wired, wireless and hybrid intruder alarms?

A wired system connects its sensors by cable, which is very reliable and well suited to new builds and larger premises. A wireless system uses battery-powered sensors, so it is quicker to install and ideal for finished or occupied buildings. A hybrid system combines both. We will recommend the best fit for your property.

What does it mean that you are SSAIB approved?

The SSAIB is one of the UK’s leading certification bodies for security and fire installers. Our approval means our work is independently assessed against recognised industry standards, which gives you confidence in the quality of the installation and is often needed to arrange police response.

What is the difference between a bells-only and a monitored alarm?

A bells-only alarm simply sounds a siren to draw attention and deter an intruder. A monitored alarm also sends a signal to an accredited Alarm Receiving Centre, so a response can be arranged even when no one is nearby to hear it. We can set up either, depending on the level of protection you want.

Can my intruder alarm alert the police?

Yes, with a monitored system. Police response requires an alarm installed by an approved company and monitored through an Alarm Receiving Centre, which allows a police reference number to be issued. As an SSAIB approved installer we can set this up and explain how it works.

Can I control my alarm from my phone?

Yes. Our systems can include a smartphone app so you can arm and disarm the alarm, check its status and receive instant notifications wherever you are, and integrate with your wider smart home or office setup.

Will my alarm still work in a power cut?

Yes. Intruder alarms have a backup battery that keeps the system running during a power cut, and monitored systems will still be able to send signals, so your protection continues even if the mains fails.

How often should an intruder alarm be serviced?

As a guide, audible-only systems should be serviced at least once a year, while monitored systems usually need servicing more often to keep police response and insurance cover valid. We offer maintenance packages to keep your system reliable and compliant.

Will an intruder alarm affect my insurance?

Many insurers offer better terms when an approved intruder alarm is fitted, and some policies require one as a condition of cover. Insurers often ask for a system installed and maintained by an accredited company, which is exactly what we provide. It is always worth checking your policy.

Do you install alarms for homes as well as businesses?

Yes. We design, install and maintain intruder alarms for both homes and commercial premises, from a single house to larger business sites, tailoring each system to the property and how it is used.

Can you service or take over an alarm another company installed?

Yes. We are happy to service, maintain or upgrade most existing intruder alarms, whoever installed them, and can advise if any part of the system would benefit from updating.

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, and design, install and maintain intruder alarms across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and London.
