B-9 Fire & Security is a family-run business based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, with more than 20 years of experience in the fire and security industry. We specialise in the design, supply, installation and maintenance of fire and security systems for businesses, homes, schools and places of worship across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and London.
Our Story
The company was founded on 1st September 2000 by Stephen Ross, initially supplying and maintaining portable fire extinguishers. At the request of one of our clients, we began delivering fire safety training in 2002, and following further requests from customers we started installing and maintaining fire alarm systems in 2005.
From those beginnings we have grown into a complete fire and security provider, adding fire risk assessments, emergency lighting, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and more to our range. Through all of that growth, the way we work has stayed the same: honest advice, high standards, and a genuinely personal service. Many of our customers have been with us for years, and a great deal of our new work still comes through their recommendations.
What We Do
Fire Alarms
Design, supply, installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems for workplace and home. We install addressable, conventional, two-wire, wireless, hybrid and aspirating systems using brands including Apollo, Hochiki and Kentec.
Remote Monitoring
We connect your alarm and CCTV systems to an accredited Alarm Receiving Centre for round-the-clock remote monitoring, with fast response and optional police escalation so your property is always protected.
Emergency Lights
We design, install and maintain emergency lighting systems that illuminate escape routes and exits during a power failure, keeping your building compliant with BS 5266 and safe to evacuate.
Fire Extinguishers
We supply, install and service a full range of extinguishers, including water, powder, CO2, Lith-Ex and fluorine-free foam, in every size and in compliance with all relevant British Standards.
Risk Assessments
Our qualified assessor carries out Fire Risk Assessments using the PAS 79 methodology, helping you meet the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and keep your people and premises safe.
Fire Training
We deliver practical fire safety and fire warden training tailored to your premises, giving staff the confidence to use extinguishers correctly, raise the alarm and evacuate safely in an emergency.
Intruder Alarms
As an SSAIB approved installer, we design, install and maintain wired, wireless and hybrid intruder alarm systems for homes and businesses, using leading brands including Pyronix, Texecom, Ajax and Honeywell.
CCTV
We design, install and maintain IP and PoE CCTV systems for homes and businesses, using trusted brands like Dahua and Hikvision to deliver crystal-clear images and remote viewing from anywhere.
Access Control
As a registered Paxton installer, we design, install and maintain access control systems, including standalone Switch2 and networked Net2 solutions, to control who enters your premises and keep it secure.
AOV
We install and maintain Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) smoke ventilation systems, which clear smoke from stairwells and corridors during a fire, protecting escape routes and helping firefighters access the building.
Invacuation
We install standalone invacuation and lockdown systems, or add a lockdown feature to an existing addressable fire alarm, using a distinct signal so people move to safety rather than evacuate.
Fire door hold back systems
We install fire door hold back systems that hold doors open legally and release them automatically when the fire alarm activates, so they close to contain smoke and fire.
